William Walton, LPC
Therapist

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Registered Drama Therapist. I believe that the therapeutic space, co-created by therapist and client, is an opportunity to explore values, gain insight around thought and behavioral patterns, and process emotions. Furthermore, this relationship provides the chance to increase our psychological flexibility and maintain our overall well-being. I also believe firmly in the values of accountability, integrity and compassion, without which therapeutic work often fails.

Throughout my years of clinical practice, I have witnessed the power that the creative arts modalities hold in the dynamic integration between mind, heart, body and spirit. This often involves the use of co-creating meaningful rituals, exploring different roles and parts of the self, and building upon skills of emotional regulation and expression through narrative and story. By meeting people where they are in any given moment, I strive to collaborate with them on building a therapeutic alliance in which insight, empowerment, healing and growth take center stage.

I utilize embodied techniques, projective techniques, narrative therapy, and play therapy. In concert with these creative arts approaches, I often utilize tools from Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy, and Internal Family Systems Therapy.
