Faith-Informed Therapy
If you’ve been searching for a therapist who values your faith just as much as you do, you’ve come to the right place. Here at Vita Optimum, we value the importance of your faith in your life and welcome it in our sessions with our clients. We believe that your faith isn’t something you should feel like you have to hide, defend, or explain to your provider. Our entire team of therapists are practicing Catholics who are trained to incorporate their faith-informed worldview for clients who would like this integration in their sessions.
At our core, we believe that each client is a person imbued with inherent dignity and a unique vocation, and we incorporate these beliefs into our work as therapists. We are committed to pursuing excellence in our clinical work and client service. We love finding creative ways to help our clients thrive, becoming their best selves in whatever season of life they are in. Trauma is defined by the American Psychological Association as “any disturbing experience that results in significant fear, helplessness, dissociation, confusion, or other disruptive feelings intense enough to have a long-lasting negative effect on a person’s attitudes, behavior, and other aspects of functioning.” Trauma can take many different forms, but the important thing to know is that you don’t have to prove that you’ve been negatively impacted by whatever it is you’ve gone through. Here at Vita Optimum, we want you to know that there is hope for finding healing from what you’ve experienced. Our therapists are trained to offer trauma-informed care and utilize researched-backed strategies to help you find yourself again. Reach out to one of our specially-trained therapists to get started.
Relationship Stress
As human beings, we are made to be in relationship with others but that doesn’t mean that being in relationships is always easy. Whether you are navigating a breakup, want to improve your communication skills, or desire healing in your relationship, our therapists are here to support you with tools from the Gottman Method and Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT). Our goal is to help you find healing and gain the skills you need to thrive in your relationships. Reach out to one of our individual or couples counselors today for specialized support.
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Scrupulosity
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often misrepresented by popular culture. If you struggle with OCD, you know that this condition is more than just being highly organized or detail-oriented. Individuals with OCD often struggle with intrusive thoughts that are very distressing and engage in rituals, such as checking behaviors, to help manage those thoughts. For some people, these obsessive thoughts can have religious themes which is known as scrupulosity. For individuals who struggle with OCD, their symptoms can feel all-consuming and can cause great distress.
Treatment for OCD and scrupulosity includes Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy (ERP) as well as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Our therapists are trained to respect your faith and the importance it has in your life while treating your symptoms so that your faith is no longer a source of distress. There is hope!
