Marissa Townsend, LPC
Therapist

From our first session, my goal is to offer hope that healing is possible by getting to know you, understanding what matters most to you, and providing a compassionate presence as you navigate life’s challenges. I want to help you identify your values, recognize barriers to living in alignment with them, and address thought and behavioral patterns that contribute to distress.

Many problems have deep roots, and I have experience in incorporating EMDR, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and parts work (IFS) to process painful or traumatic experiences, develop healthier ways of responding, and deepen connections with others. I am also trained in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD, including scrupulosity, and welcome clients who wish to integrate faith and spirituality into counseling.

I genuinely enjoy getting to know people through my work and continually learning about psychology. I’m a mix of down-to-earth and nerdy, so outside of work, I enjoy things from walks and college football to conversations about philosophy, theology, and history.

My specialities include:
- OCD and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)
- EMDR and Trauma-Informed Therapy
- Trauma and Complex PTSD
